FIRST Tech Challenge Waitlist for 2026-2027

For students entering 8th - 12th grade. Please use the grade your student will enter in the fall of 2026. 

For students in grades 8-12, the goal of a FIRST Tech Challenge team is to design, build, program, and compete in robotics competitions. In addition, we aim to build a successful team that has fun learning about robotics and programming in a way that exemplifies the FIRST value of Gracious Professionalism, which encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.

FIRST Tech Challenge Approximated Time Commitment:

  • Team meeting on a designated evening each week 5:30 - 9:00pm, June 2026 - April 2027 (holidays excluded)
  • Four Mandatory Parent and Mentor meetings throughout the season on the workday at 5:30pm
  • Drive Team practice and additional work sessions as needed on Thursdays 5:30-9:00 pm December through final competition
  • Robot Work Days, or FIRST Volunteering, or Competitions 3 Saturdays/month September - February (or April if team qualifies for worlds)
  • Team Outreach Events and Fun Field Trips (3-4/month June - August, 1/month September - April)
  • Early Engineers mentoring 4th Friday of the Month 5:45-7:45 August-April
  • Summer Camp volunteering June 23-27th and/or July 7-11
  • Full Day Kick Off Saturday in September
  • World Championships (If the team qualifies) April 2027
  • Broomfield Robotics Club Annual Celebration Saturday Late April or Early May 2027 (TBD) 

Restrictions

Participants must currently be in grades 8 to 12.

Registration period

Registration starts on 07/24/2025 and ends on 07/31/2026.

Participants may register at any time during this period.
