Waitlist for FIRST Lego League Challenge 2026-2027
For students entering 4th-7th grades. Please use the grade your student will enter in the fall of 2026. Please review the competitive team and non-competitive team options below.
FLL Challenge Competitive Team Description:
Friendly competition is at the heart of FIRST Lego League (FLL) Challenge, as teams of 10 students in grades 4-7 engage in research, problem-solving, coding and engineering a LEGO robot that navigates the missions of a robot game. As part of FLL Challenge, teams also participate in an innovation project to identify and solve a relevant real-world problem, which they present to a panel of judges at competition. FLL Students focus intently on the FIRST Core Values of Innovation, Discovery, Impact, Teamwork, Inclusivity and Fun, and they practice these values throughout the year. The teams get a new challenge in August, compete in November - December, and then spend the spring working on skill building and iterating their robots for a spring scrimmage. During the season, teams will have the chance to present their work to experts for feedback, and will take a field trip related to the theme of the year. All team meetings will take place at Holy Comforter.
Monday Teams BroomBlocks & BroomBuilders- First Semester Meets every Monday from 6:00-8:00 pm AND every Sunday 1:00-3:00 pm July - December, 2026. Sunday Meetings increase to 3 hours in November, 12:00-3:00pm. Second Semester Meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month January - April.
Friday Teams BroomBricks & BroomBoltz- First Semester Meets every Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm AND every Sunday 4:00-6:00 pm July - December 2026. Sunday Meetings increase to 3 hours in November, 3:30-6:30pm. Second Semester Meets the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month January - April.
Mandatory Scrimmages and Competitions: Saturday in October (TBD), Saturday in November (TBD), Saturday in December (TBD, if team qualifies for state), Saturday in late April or early May (TBD)
Please note: There is a minimum attendance requirement of 75% of fall meetings and 100% of scrimmages and competitions to participate on these teams. Payment for the second semester is required as we spread the cost of the competition and materials out over the two semesters. Participation in the second semester is also required for your student to be guaranteed a spot on a team the following season. If your family is not able to make the full time commitment for this program, we recommend participation in our FLL Club instead.
FLL Challenge Non-Competitive Club Description:
Students in our FLL Club meet once a week to learn problem-solving, coding and engineering skills as they work in small groups to develop a Lego robot that navigates the missions of the year's FLL Challenge robot game. In addition to working on robot skills, students will study science and engineering topics related to year's theme, with a focus on work and careers done within those STEM fields. All meetings will take place at Holy Comforter.
Please note: Our FLL Club will use the same Lego Spike Prime sets and FIRST Lego League Challenge materials as our competitive teams, but will be taught more like a class and will be non-competitive. Because FIRST releases a new challenge each year, students are welcome to participate in our FLL Club for multiple years. Students who participate in FLL Club will be given priority over students on the waitlist if they want to move to one of our competitive FLL Teams in a future season, but we cannot guarantee that space will be available.
Participants must currently be in grades 4 to 7.
Registration starts on 07/24/2025 and ends on 07/31/2026.
Participants may register at any time during this period.
